Volunteering at East Kent College

I currently volunteer for East Kent College as a counsellor working with Adults & young people age 14+. I'm currently working alongside an Early Year's project/charity to provide affordable counselling to their service users.

I'm also a foster carer of 17yrs working with complex and challenging children, understanding early life trauma and how this manifests into every aspect of life as a child and an adult.

Working with this daily helps me to understand how early life has a profound effect on who we are in the here and now, and how hard it can be to manage this alone.

Isolated & Lonely

Working in the social care sector has also given me great awareness of how stressful the role of parent or supporting professionals can be from social workers to educational professionals.

I have an understanding of how these roles can feel isolated and lonely, knowing first hand that working in a confidential based industry can lead to overwhelming feelings of stress, anxiety, fear or a general feeling of 'not being good enough' and having nobody to talk to in confidence about this.

This experience and my training has helped me to realise the importance of having someone, someone to hear you, be with you, travel with you on what can be a lonely painful journey which at times can feel as though there is no direction.

I hold an enhanced DBS.

FREE Initial 20 Minute Session

I offer a FREE initial 20 minute call or consultation, where you can get to know me and discuss what brings you to counselling.

This gives you the opportunity to ask questions about the counselling I offer and to discuss any worries or concerns you may have about the process, to help you to feel safe and to decide if I am the right counsellor for you. It is an individual decision and no obligation to continue is expected.
